Philip Tew’s Brigand novel, Afterlives, is featured in the latest edition of Leicester University’s alumni magazine, Paternoster. A graduate of the university (1976 BA; 1985 MPhil), Philip was pleased to be featured and he hopes many fellow existing and ex-students will be intrigued enough to read his story, which has sections that feature the university, the city of Leicester and Sue Townsend, the writer who spent her life living there, who was for a time a friend of Philip’s. As the article says: “But it’s no coincidence Philip’s work is such a distinctly Leicester tale. A postgraduate student in 1979, Philip was one of the editors of a small Leicester arts magazine, simply called Magazine. It was here that he published Sue Townsend’s first Adrian Mole story.”
