The Sudden Metropolis - Kingsley Poole
The Sudden Metropolis - Kingsley Poole
The year is 1900. Repatriated from the Boer War with typhoid fever, disillusioned Doctor John Hunston leaves his Harley Street practice for a remote posting in the goldfields of Western Australia. One night, a dying priest reveals the location of ‘the sacred nugget’, a fabled piece of gold worth a fortune. Hunston is not the only interested party, however, and is soon pitted against an unscrupulous foe. Dragged down an ever more dangerous path, salvation will come in a form he could never have anticipated.
Kingsley Poole was born in 1969. He is the son of Australian parents and was educated at Magdalen College School and St John’s College, Oxford. While at University he rowed in ‘The Boat Race’ against Cambridge for three successive years. Since 2003 he has worked as a GP in West Sussex. The Sudden Metropolis is his first novel.
